The Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal was established in 1984 to enable the pay and allowances of members of the Australian Defence Force to be determined having regard to the special nature of Defence Force service. The Tribunal, which is supported by a secretariat staffed by departmental employees, has two functions:
The Tribunal's work is predominantly determined by the matters brought before it by the parties, in particular by the ADF. To deal with these matters the Tribunal sits as and when required.
The Tribunal does not have any responsibility for superannuation matters as this is outside the remit of the Tribunal. Information on Defence Superannuation matters should be directed to the Comsuper website, where members and interested parties will be able to find information and contact details for both the Military Super and DFRDB schemes.
On 30 January 2012 the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal published its Workplace Remuneration Remuneration Arrangement 2011 - 2014 Decision. The Arrangement affects all members of the ADF up to and including the rank of Colonel (equivalent) and includes salary and salary related allowances. A copy of the Decision can be downloaded here.
