Inspection – Holsworthy Barracks – 14 November 2023

On 14 November 2023 the Tribunal conducted an inspection of the Special Operations Command workforce as part of Matter 9 of 2023 – Special Forces Salary Structure.

The purpose of the inspection was to provide the Tribunal with an opportunity to gain an understanding of the Special Operations Forces capability and provide further context in support of the ADF submissions for the matter. Prior to this, the Tribunal had attended presentations at Russell Offices, Canberra on 13 September 2023.

The Tribunal Members were welcomed to the Special Forces Training Facility by Brigadier Nathan Juchniewicz, Commander Special Forces Group, who provided an overview of the proposition, the drivers for change, and how the workforce’s core activities have evolved since the last review by the Tribunal.

The Tribunal attended static demonstrations on the roles of each workforce and were briefed by representatives about their various workforce responsibilities, typical career progression, selection and training requirements.
